Everybody Cozy On In

This is the room Yuula tried to sleep in. It's been this messy for, let's say, weeks. She sleeps in our room because she can't find the bed. She seems to like it this way and when we attempt to clean, it immediately returns to this state of, what can we call this, present-day Chernobyl, maybe. There may be radioactive wolves in there. There may be.

The boy also sleeps in our room, which is slowly becoming NOT our room. He's slightly less destructive, but he did pee everywhere today.

You Had Your Footprint

song of the day

always Woods

What's This Leisure?

Sunday was supposed to be a work day. Instead it was a lot of this.

And then this.

And of course this.

With a little Thai Orchid mixed in.

And I still haven't finished the rabbit hut.

The Only Version I'll Ever Need

36 Time's The Charm

This is my wife getting so gussied up for my birthday that she felt the need to take a selfie. And I have to hang out with this all day....

Then this happened. So far, off to a bad start.

But then we got these two bamboo rocker/swivel chairs, originally $125 and talked down to $65 for both. Birthday bargain.

We decided that since we were celebrating we would check out the infamous Saen, best Thai in the Poconos.

Aesop does not like pahd Thai

Fried banana was the first dessert of the day

Good, quite good, but we still like Thai Orchid in all it's boring glory.

Best part of the day was lost in Child's park, closed for years now open to the public and ready for exploring. I have tons more photos from the trails and falls, but that'll come another day when the news is slow.

The water was cold. Snow still melting.

Boy likes the wilderness.

A woodsy family shot.

Instead of going home for the planned dinner, we struck out in the rain for Sycamore Grille. I eat for free on my birthday so, try and talk us out of it.

I had the chicken medallions sprinkled with feta, sun-roasted tomatoes, and spinach, drizzled with a wine sauce and served with green beans and a three-cheese polenta cake. I don't know what anyone else got because I was in a heavy bliss.

Dessert #2 was the ridiculicious lemon/blueberry marscapone they serve at the ol' SG. Worth the price of admission alone, we split one, because dessert #3 was still waiting at home.

By the time we got home and changed into pajamas everyone was asleep or on the verge. I tried to get Yuula downstairs for cake and she followed me to the top of the stairs but then collapsed in a desperate yawn of exhaustion. I carried her back to bed, headed downstairs and ate some ice cream cake by the light of the fridge. But I was not sad. I couldn't be. That was the best birthday I have ever had.

Swallow All The Animals That Hiss

Tree Seat Session

We went for a walk on Easter and Laura ordered a session with the crooked tree. 3 year old Yuula was tentative, but I think 30 year old Yuula might really like these.

It Doesn't Matter Then

song of the day

very like a whale

Bubbles Be Blowing In Yer Face

I think, unsurprisingly, the biggest hit was the Little Mermaid bubble-blowing bicycle. And after I got past the back wheel not completely hitting ground, we managed to go for a dozen or a million rides on the street on in front of the house. On day one she did okay. But day two she really took off and pedaled all on her own. It was only on the last of fifteen or so tours that she finally crashed and called it a day.

Learning to ride a bike in a long dress. She don't care.

Doubel Zs

Yuula wanted to learn to spell 'pizza' today. Not bad for a first go. Then we had it for dinner.

She likes being able to spell. She wants to learn new words all the time. She wants to try 'unicorn' tomorrow. I may break that one into syllables. I don't know why she has nail clippers in this photo.

 Aesop does not spell yet.

When Daddy's Away

Think the kids missed me tonight?

Here's a family portrait Yuula did. I'm the little guy in the bottom corner.

So proud.

Baseball Can Be Boring

Me and my father and brother went to a Mets game tonight.  They lost. Big surprise.

Decent game at least. No big apple. Nothing exciting. We sat next to a guy that got interviewed. And I drank two very large beers and a scarfed a bag of peanuts. That was the highlight. Go Mets.

Had To Have This Talk With You

song of the day

I've always loved this song (2nd favorite DP tune) and it's pretty awesome at 33rpm

Soap On A Stick

Bubbles and Easter go together like spaghetti sauce and pineapple, in that they don't, but we like it anyways.

I didn't think soapy water could consume so much fun each year
